MWAHAHAHAHAHA! I am triumphant! I have finally managed to capture that most elusive of baby behaviors on film: the rollover! I have posted this rarity for your enjoyment below. In addition, I jazzed it up a bit with iMovie to make it a bit more fun since it's so short. Babies are fast, man. They will eat you alive if you ain't quick...
In other news, Happy Birthday to my dad... he can now officially take advantage of the senior citizen's discount at Luby's since he hit the big 5-5 on Sunday. My treat, Pops! ;o)
My job search is going craptacular right now. For once, my resume is superb. It's finding positions that meet my criteria that's the hard part this time around. Keep your fingers crossed however; a position opened up at my alma mater in the theatre department. I know I'm perfect for it. My friends and colleagues know I'm perfect for it. Now if I can just get the University to know that I'm perfect for the job, I can start looking for day care! [sigh] Job hunting sucks, but I am confident I will find something soon. I better, anyway, since time and money are running out!
Anyhoo, I need to start getting ready to head into Quizno's and Little S needs some more tummy time before Daddy Day Care happens this afternoon. Tune in next time for more excitement & adventure with La Familia Guerra!

Three Months Old
It's hard to believe that three months ago today I popped out our nine pounder. She's not sleeping through the night yet, but she is making headway. Most nights she only wakes once or twice to feed. At this point, she has rolled over exactly once, has discovered a range in her vocal chords that can break glass, and can sit in her Bebe Pod without hunching or falling over. These are some big accomplishments! Yay Little S!
I have officially sent out my resume now. Granted, it was only one, but The Search has officially launched with that action. Say some prayers, light some candles, and cross your fingers that Kelly will be able to find a great satisfying and well paying job!
Goodnight to all, we'll keep you posted! K, etc.

We be rollin'...
Today we rolled over from our front to our back! All by ourselves! So far, Sybilla is a one trick pony and hasn't duplicated her efforts yet, but I'm sure she will soon! Her other trick at this point is squealing. She has discovered her vocal chords and could give the majority of La Scala's sopranos a run for their money with some of the notes she can hit. The cat isn't too pleased and has been making himself scarce when she's awake.
We have a big week this week, what with our wedding anniversary on Tuesday (2 years!) and Sybilla hits the big 3 months on Wednesday. Then my dad's birthday this upcoming Sunday and my birthday shopping spree. I've waited long enough and now that a job search is eminent, I must dress for success, and the old wardrobe just doesn't cut the mustard.
Speaking of mustard, I won't be visiting the Salt Lick anytime soon! We went there to celebrate Michael's dad's birthday yesterday and apparently the secret ingredient in EVERYTHING is mustard. I thought something was up when the waiter placed a bowl of BBQ sauce in front of me and it looked oddly yellow. When we asked he informed us that yes it did contain mustard, confirming my suspicions. So when he brought a platter of meat with sauce all over it, my sweet husband asked him to bring one out without sauce for me since I was allergic to mustard. The waiter came back with plate as requested and then asked how allergic I was. When I informed him very, he told me I was SOL since all of the meat at the joint is cooked in the damn stuff. Whee. He very kindly brought me a plate of romaine lettuce and some tomato slices since there wasn't anything else for me to eat except pinto beans. On the upside, their pecan pie is mustard-free and FAB-u-less!
We'll keep you posted as Little S makes more progress towards independence...in the meantime, enjoy the little video below of her during tummy time filled with squeals and squirms for your viewing pleasure.
Adios! Kelly and the Gang

Shocking News!
Drumroll please…our child slept for almost 8 hours straight!!! Sybilla finally fell asleep at 10:30 last night and I was totally shocked when she didn’t wake up until 6 this morning. She then consumed 6 ounces of milk and squirmed a bit until she fell back asleep (as did Mommy) until almost 9. I don’t know if this is a new development or a fluke, but whatever. Mommy got 6 hours of sleep and she is pumped! Happy Friday!
There’s not really anything new to report on the baby development front. Little S loves to have her morning playtime when she gets up. We’ve been getting out of bed about 9ish and Mommy pumps for Daddy Day Care. We then “play”, which consists of her laughing and squealing with delight while throwing her arms and legs everywhere. We also have some tummy time and lately we’ve been trying to roll over. That’s where Mommy rolls the baby and makes ridiculously excited happy noises. I read somewhere that even though your kid may not be ready to roll over, they’re still assimilating all of the information and will be able to use it later for when they do roll over and it might help them roll over sooner. Even if she doesn’t roll over early, it adds enough variety for Mommy not to get too bored too soon. We also have stand up play, which I think is probably Billa’s favorite. She stands and squats and stares at the floor, the bookshelf, me, and anything else while enjoying the movement. It’s really cute, but I haven’t been able to capture it on film for posterity yet. She's started this habit of looking so damn serious when the camera comes out!
In other news, I am now officially launching the Kelly’s Search for a Satisfying and Well-Paying Real Job. I updated my resume and started looking for available positions. I decided when I went on maternity leave that I was not going to accept any job because I had to, but because I wanted to. I think part of the reason I’ve been so miserable with my past couple of jobs (Quizno’s excluded) is because I took them because I had bills to pay and I was desperate. I don’t think it’s a good idea to accept anything out of desperation because it sets up for rocky times ahead. I want to be able to stick with something for awhile, make a career out of it, and enjoy my work for once. I think being able to call the shots will ultimately make me feel better about any job I have. I’ve been following up on some leads through some friends and checking the university boards on any positions and if any of our dear readers know of anything else, please let me know!
So that’s pretty much it. We’ll let you know when there is more to tell! Until then, toodle pip, kiddies!

Sybilla sucking sans paci
Hee hee hee... I love it when babies are sucking and they don't have anything in their mouth. I managed to catch Sybilla doing it here. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to Kelly!
My 26th birthday was yesterday and I am now at the tail end of mid-twenties. Next year I will be in my late twenties! Yes, it's silly, but once you hit 21, birthdays aren't that exciting until you hit 30, 40, 50, etc. This birthday was very exciting and quite possibly the best birthday ever because the forces of the universe aligned just so and my child slept for more than two hours in a row. In fact, she slept almost FIVE hours in a row the night before my birthday.
We'd had a particularly rough weekend and Michael and I were both totally zonked come Monday morning from stress and lack of sleep. I had to get up early for a doctor's office and after almost falling asleep at the wheel there and back, suffering really bad allergies/cold symptoms, and having the sinus migraine from hell, I stayed home from work (I'm sorry Debi!) and tried to take turns napping with Michael. I jokingly told Sybilla that the best birthday present from her would be to sleep through the night and have no spit up. Well, she delivered! Little S fell asleep at 10:45 that night and didn't wake up until 3 am, then she went back to sleep after feeding for half an hour, and didn't get up until 7 am. Score one for Mommy!
She also slept hardcore last night too, a trend which I hope continues. She fell asleep at 10:15 and didn't wake up until 4:40!!! She fed for 20 or so minutes after that and then went back to bed until almost 9 when I woke her up. I like the reversal in roles : ) It's nice being the one doing the waking and not being woken up! I was so full of energy from two days of getting more than two hours of sleep in a row, that I got some major creative stuff done (more on that later!), which I have done in so long because I've existed in a sleep-deprived fog.
The other thing that made my birthday so great was just how nice the day was. Debi bought me an ice cream birthday cake (yummy!), the lady who owns the Culver's next to Quizno's brought me a free sundae (yeah!), Michael got me a giant bag of gummi bears (sweet!), and my best friend and her family joined me and my family for pepperoni rolls at Double Dave's for dinner. The picture above is my best friend Kellie and her two kids, Madeleine & Cameron, with me and Sybilla.
Now that I have some additional weight to lose after my birthday binge fest (so worth it!), I am postponing my big birthday present just a little bit longer...my Mommy Makeover! Michael and a few other folks have contributed to a kitty for me to buy a new wardrobe now that most of my stuff doesn't fit thanks to my new figure and the fact that I am going to be in the market for a new job in the next few months. I can't wait! I've been window shopping for some time and trying to decide what I will get. I'll post a slideshow a la fashion shoot later!
My parents gave me a Meyer lemon tree, which I am so pumped about. It already has some fruit on it and will be growing some more over the summer. Tastewise, the fruit is like a cross between an orange and a lemon and it is so zesty. It's like lemons on steroids! I've been wanting one ever since Michael's aunt got me turned on to them a couple of months ago...now I have to get her lemon icebox pie recipe and go to town!
So that is the birthday report. It's just a few minutes shy of midnight and I should go get some sleep while I can. Until next time!
